Well it appears they are "stuck" as I am using segwit. This is from their support.

on that note is is kind of ridiculous that both bch and btc have wallets where this can happen. It should not be possible to do so.

I was doing a test send to my ledger nano s btc wallet and sent about $150 of bch to it by accident. The wallet currently has bitcoin in it now. Anything I can do?

Hey Brags,

the easiest method in my opinion would be to just send the funds to a new wallet and delete the old one, it only takes a couple of minutes to create a new wallet and back it up.

Ok if I want to move my coins to another wallet, and want the 12 backup phrase of the original wallet to be useless as far as accessing the coins in the blockchain...and I do not want the bitcoin to exist in both wallets...which method should I use?

Yes. I am referring to the backup mnemonic phrase. I have one with bitcoin.com. What happens if bitcoin.com wallet app just disappears? Can I open a new wallet elsewhere, using the backup mnemonic phrase from the bitcoin.com wallet?

Technically speaking, yes, That's why you should never show your recovery phrase to anyone and keep it extremely safe, treat it like your ATM pin code.

What happens if the wallet app you are using just disappears? The backup keys are only good for that wallet, so what kind of backup do you need so you can still retrieve your bitcoin from the blockchain? I am aware of ledger nano s...just curious about wallet apps like bitcoin.com wallet.

I just wasn't sure if I had to go around burning up all the pieces of paper holding old backup keys from old wallets every time I moved my coin.

No I get it now. Once I move my funds to another wallet then the first wallet backup keys are useless to anyone...unless I want to import the funds back to it one day...the I would need them. Or I could just open a brand new wallet if I didn't have the keys.

I understand how hashing works (sha-1 md5 etc), ...I just want to know that if the back up keys are a link to the bitcoin in the blockchain, what happens when you have 2 sets of backup keys for two different wallets. Can't both of these keys be used to gain access to the coins in the blockchain ...

I have wallet B wish say copay

I have 1 bitcoin in wallet A, and have the backup key.
I send 1 bitcoin to wallet B, and have a new backup key with that wallet.

So now I have 2 sets of backup keys with 1 bitcoin...sitting in wallet B

Basically, when I go to setting/wallet addresses it shows multiple addresses with funds in them...and if I add them all up they equal the bch total that is on the home page...and when I try to send maximum it also gives the total amount of bch on the home page.
