Moving funds

Tue Apr 17, 2018 10:00 pm

I moved (bch) funds from my bch wallet to another bch wallet. Now in my bitcoin app, when I go to show addresses it shows 2 that have funds in them...the original wallet and the new one. How do I send the funds back to the original wallet so they are all together again?

Hi brags,

The following is applicable to the Bitcoin.com wallet application:

You can either send it back to the first wallet (much like the transaction you already made) or you can send it back specifically to the same address. In more detail:

Scenario A: If the funds are in the very same wallet (but in two different addresses now) you can spend the funds from both address together when you send a transaction from that wallet (so you don't really need to have the funds in the same address).

However, if you absolutely need the same amount of BCH to be at the same address again (the address you sent from) you'll have to copy that address that you sent from and then go to Send again and paste in that address and then send whatever amount it was (minus the fees) and then select the same wallet (or if you only have one wallet this option to select which wallet to send from wont appear).

Scenario B: If the funds are now in two different wallets (and both of these wallets are in your Bitcoin.com wallet application) you wont be able to spend the funds from both address together when you send a transaction. If you want to move the BCH back to the first wallet just go to Send again and select the wallet that you sent from before and then send whatever amount it was (minus the fees) and then select the wallet that you want to send from.

However, if you absolutely need the same amount of BCH to be at the very same address again (the one you sent from) then don't do what is stated in the previous sentence. Rather, do this: Copy the address that you sent from and then go to Send again and paste in that address and then send whatever amount it was (minus the fees) and then select the wallet that you want to send the BCH out of.

I hope the foregoing helps and wasn't too much of a confusing word salad. If you need additional help, or if you (or anyone else reading here) have spotted any errors in the foregoing please make a note of it here for all of us!

Thank you for the thorough explanation.

Regarding the options you gave, I imagine it is scenario A

Because

On the main page it where it shows total bch, it accounts for all of my bch. Also, when sending bch, and I click send "maximum" it gives the total of all my bch...so it is multiple addresses in the same wallet I suppose. Anyway, all good as long as I can send or spend all of my bch.

P.S so it sounds like I have 1 wallet, multiple wallet addresses and 1 back up key? Is this correct?

Basically, when I go to setting/wallet addresses it shows multiple addresses with funds in them...and if I add them all up they equal the bch total that is on the home page...and when I try to send maximum it also gives the total amount of bch on the home page.

Yes, from what you've described all of the your BCH is in the same wallet.

Yes, there is one backup phrase per wallet. If, or when, you restore your wallet later on that backup phrase will restore that particular wallet and all funds from any addresses within that wallet.

Moreover, if you were to convert your 12 word backup phrase with a BIP39 Mnemonic Code Converter you'd get the privates keys for each address.

If you have more than one wallet in your Bitcoin.com wallet application please make sure to write down the backup phrase (with words in correct order) for each wallet.

I hope that the foregoing was helpful.
