Thought this might be helpful to some newbies out there...
I think that newbies should stay away from bitcoin addresses. They tend to think of a bitcoin address as an account number, and that can lead to confusion, consternation, and ultimately tears. Frantic posts about missing bitcoins typically seem to start with "My bitcoin address is ..."

Of course you can't get rid of bitcoin addresses completely, but QR codes are step in the right direction. A better method would be for your wallet to contact the receiving wallet and ask for an address.
