I think that newbies should stay away from bitcoin addresses. They tend to think of a bitcoin address as an account number, and that can lead to confusion, consternation, and ultimately tears. What is the alternative to using bitcoin addresses, aliases? If so, in what fashion? Of course you can't get rid of bitcoin addresses completely, but QR codes are step in the right direction.
