Sent BCH to my Bitcoin.com BTC wallet

Thu Sep 14, 2017 6:33 pm

Sent BCH to my Bitcoin.com BTC wallet. I can view the BCH is in my BTC wallet using Blockchair.com

What is the easiest way to move the BCH from BTC wallet to BCH wallet? (Again the wallet is Bitcoin.com on IOS)

Note: Bitcoin.com wallet doesn't show the private address. If it did I would just sweep that address with another wallet.

Thanks,

David

I downloaded a bitcoin.com wallet to my laptop. Did the import wallet using the exported key. BCH wallet created by $0 balance.

What went wrong?

Note: I tried to import wallet from backup on my IOS wallet, error "Wallet already in Copay"

Also I can still see the correct balance in blockchair for my public address.

Thanks,

David

Sounds like you may be connecting to nodes on the BTC network and not the BCC network. Sharing the address and which wallet software you're using would help diagnose the issue.

I have tried the guide link in this thread and had no success getting my BCH. I put in the recovery phrase and just get an error. I've tried it for two different wallets originally on Bitcoin.com during the fork, both give me an error. I'm very frustrated with this whole thing and feel like my BCH is just LOST. I've worked with this until my head is spinning. The error says:

Could not access the wallet at the server. Please check: The password of the recovery phrase (if set) NONE IS SET
The derivation path WTF! HOW COULD I POSSIBLY KNOW HOW TO CHANGE OR CORRECT IT!
The waller service URL HUH! HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT?

Can anyone help me???

Wallet version 3.0.6

I haven't updated it. If you could just tell me how to view my private key I could just use another wallet to sweep that address? Simple.

Thanks

Is there anyway to view the private key in bitcoin.com wallet vet 3.0.6?

Or is there a way to export wallet and then view it? When I reviewed the exported wallet it's not clear to me what the private key is among all the data?

There is a way to get private key which bitcoin.com support provided to me. However, I tried using that to set up a wallet and "sweep" the balance but it didn't work. I am beginning to wish I had just left my bitcoin on coinbase. The only reason I moved it was because they indicated they weren't supporting the fork. Now coinbase doesn't care and won't answer my questions they just ignore me! Bitcoin.com and this forum don't help either.....I posted the above requested several days ago and have received NO response. Do I sound frustrated?

When in your wallet Go to Settings -> Wallets -> Choose your wallet -> More Options -> Export Wallet -> File/Text -> Set up a password -> Download

Then, go to https://bitwiseshiftleft.github.io/sjcl/demo/
(I would recommend disconnecting your internet connection at this time to be extra safe.)
Open your file and copy the whole text.

Paste the text in Ciphertext text area.

Enter your password on the Password input. (that password is the one that you enter in the Bitcoin.com wallet when exporting)

Then click decrypt.

In the Plaintext text area you will find the xPrivKey.

These are the instructions sent to me in response to my query through Bitcoin.com support. I was able to use them to get my private key.....but I tried using that private key to set up a bitcoin cash wallet and it didn't work.

If anyone has other ideas I'd really like to get my 3+ BCH that I am due!

Try this link, it has some very easy to follow instructions and will work just the same with the Bitcoin.com wallet

Good news, apparently my import of the exported keys did work. When I checked today the correct balance was showing. Not sure why I didn't see the balance change right after the import.

Thanks for the help!

I have the same problem and don't understand what to do.
When I tried to import wallet with help of text and password, the error was "the wallet is not registred on the server" with recomendation to restore it. After restoring I could see BCC balance in parametrs of wallet, not in wallet itself, but some hours later balance disappeared.
I can see balance on blockchair.com

Update
I downloaded wallet to another laptop and seed phrase worked, now I could see BCC balance in this wallet. But I couldn't send BCC (wallet allows to send only BTC) and when I tried to import this wallet to android I received error: phrase is not valid. After import with help of text and password on Android I see BCC wallet with 0 balance. Then I reinstalled IOS wallet version, restored wallet with text and balance appeared.
But still can't send BCC

Update
Wallet works perfectly

Hi, gasdoc, I'm still looking into the issue.

However, I just wanted to add a quick note that if you do indeed have the private (as you indicate that you do) then there in nothing to worry about.

You're BCH (or BCC) is safe and isn't going anywhere.

I have checked our support system and can confirm that you were indeed sent a response to your most recent email. The response was sent on October 9th at 3:41 pm (GMT).

Please note that a seed word phrase from a BTC wallet cannot simply be imported as a BCC wallet in the Bitcoin.com wallet app.

You can use the following tool to recover BCC from a Bitcoin.com BTC wallet which held funds at the time of the fork:

I rechecked my email. I did receive that email, although it wasn't obvious who is was from since it came from "Gary D," The email wasn't helpful since it just essentially asked if the pass phrase was generated by bitcoin (It was) and if I typed it correctly. (Yes, I did and did it again just to be sure.) Also, that response was

I did the steps described in the link above and the end result was "Available balance: 0.00000000 BTC. Insufficents funds."

This has all been very frustrating. I have attempted to communicate multiple times and always provided the info. Responses to me have been untimely and I typically need to send a query more than once to get an answer. The method I need to take keeps changing but the RESULT is always the same. I just want my BCH and honestly at this point wish I'd never kept my bitcoin in a wallet from bitcoin.com.

Hi gasdoc,

Email response for wallet support has been a lot more timely the past 36 hours, and this is a trend we hope to keep up. My apologies on the team's behalf for any delayed responses.

I have checked and you received the following response:
Was the recovery phrase you are trying to enter generated by the Bitcoin.com wallet itself, or another wallet such as Mycelium? If generated by the Bitcoin.com wallet, please ensure that all letters in the recovery phrase are lower case and that there is a single space between them, as well as ensuring that there is no space after the last word.
The response may not have seemed helpful but all questions are used to try and pinpoint the source of the issue, and hopefully come up with a resolution for them. Upon further inspection of your email thread and screenshot it seems that you are trying to just straight import a Bitcoin.com BTC seed phrase as a Bitcoin Cash wallet? This is not currently possible in our app.

You will be able to recover BCC from a Bitcoin.com BTC wallet using the following tool:

https://blog.bitpay.com/bitcoin-cash-recovery/

If that does not work, please try using the method outlined in the post below (although you will need to reverse the direction of BCC and BTC):

post102108.html#p102098

I have also ensured that the above is emailed to you.

Using the recovery tool worked for me!
I will tell you the process in case anyone else is stuck in my position.
What got me into trouble:
- I bought bitcoin cash on coinbase and accidentally sent it to my BTC account instead of my BCH account.
What I did:
- Went into settings on my Bitcoin.com wallet.
- Clicked More Options -> export wallet
- selected the BTC wallet that I sent my BCH to
- entered a password and downloaded the file
- went to https://bitpay.github.io/copay-recovery/
- I just changed the Chain: to bitcoin cash livenet
- Clicked on Or upload a File/Text backup: and selected the backup that I just got from bitcoin.com wallet
- Scanned and waited for a while.
- I entered an address from my bitcoin.com wallet address but it said it was wrong....
- So I downloaded Bitpay and used a bitcoin cash wallet from that
- entered that address
and huzzah!!
I recovered all of my Bitcoin cash to the BitPay app!
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!
I OWE YOU A LOT!
*big hugs*
