Re: Greg Maxwell's economic ignorance on full display

There will only be 21 million Bitcoin.
Ether has zero hard limit, there are 80,767,367 ETH available supply today with no end in sight.
Sell your Bitcoin for Ether, go ahead! Economic life study? Laughable!

It's about ROI, if you invest $100K and return $130K, great.

If you invest $100K and ...

Re: Bitcoin Hard Forks and More with Erik Voorhees

While I totally agree with your point that numbers should not be misrepresented and everyone should be realistic about the situation, bear in mind that the interview was made a while back and that the recent drop of BIP109 blocks to < 5% is just that, a recent thing.

Erik stated "I think ...

Re: Bitcoin Hard Forks and More with Erik Voorhees

I have a lot of respect for Erik but he is either uninformed or being disingenuous about the hashing of the last 1000 blocks mined. I would like to believe it is the former.

It is 11:11pm on the East Coast of the United States and as of 8 minutes ago of the last 1000 blocks mined.

It was very difficult to watch. The only reason they want permissioned blockchains is so they can control and manipulate data. How she can stand there with a straight face while describing the 2008 meltdown is beyond evil.

Because in the next 3 - 7 years the ROI could reach anywhere from 100X to 1000X . the outcome is binary, if you think it is going to zero perhaps a precious metals forum is more up your alley.

Bitcoin is many things but to your point 4 come to top of mind,

1. Bitcoin is the best performing ...

I believe that if miners see that other miners are successfully mining Classic blocks they will eventually join. They don't want to be seen as 'the reason bitcoin did not scale'.

The best demonstration of this would be China and Russia. Bitcoin is viewed hostilely and at points was outlawed. I think it is still illegal in Russia. I think when central governments say it's bad, people intuitivly know that it is awesome and want it.
