Tue Jul 26, 2016 5:47 pm

Hello I am very new to Bitcoins and having some problems.. I had 100 dollars of bitcoins sent to my wallet.. I was not sure at the moment exactly how the exchange worked so I waited a few days until I had time to do some research.. Now I open my wallet back up and there is no bitcoins available and no record of any coming to me.. What am I doing wrong and what can I do?? Am i just out the money.. I am so confused and angry.. Any help be appreciated very much.

You must synchronize your wallet with the block chain completely in order for an up-to-date balance to be shown.

Bitcoin Classic, like Bitcoin Unlimited, Bitcoin Core, and a few other wallets examine the block chain directly to determine the number of bitcoins you have.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I should have put a little more time into researching and understanding this before I went ahead and put money into it.. Thankfully it was a small amount.. So is there a universal block chain I should download? And is there any other info you could give that would make this easy for me would be greatly appreciated..

My bitcoin classic is running and it says synchronizing with network.. 3 years and 20 weeks behind.. everything I'm reading about this seems so confusing..

As a "newbie" you may want to use wallets that are more user friendly. I like the Mycelium Wallet or Blockchain.info Wallet.... Airbitz is another fine choice. And you can import your private key to the address you sent your payment to.

BTW, these wallet links are SPV wallets... basically no downloading and synching. They run as soon as you install them. Please ensure you create your backups!!
