We begin with the premise that Bitcoin Cash needs a system for handling tradable or redeemable tokens. We base this premise on the myriad of possible use cases and the billions of dollars of market capitalization that currently exist on platforms such as Ethereum.
Despite the demand, enhancement proposals such as GROUP or OP_GROUP have not achieved enough consensus to meet the high bar required for changing the Bitcoin Cash base protocol layer. Nor have there been any non-protocol proposals with sufficient traction.
