Crypto mining banned to protect the poorest in society

Hey guys! I’ve been reading quite a few articles on this and wonder what you think: Any of you got any thoughts on the effects the increase in use of electricity due to mining activity could have on the poorest in society? Take the American Plattsburgh for example, where the high demand in electricity almost lead to an increase in prices for the entire population. As a consequence, mining got banned there. Do you think it’s right to ban mining to protect those not involved in the business from facing negative effects?
