Eridanos First Mile

Fri Feb 16, 2018 7:49 pm

Hi. My name is Mahon Slattery (MD Dealán Dé). My work involves the equalization of quality of life with focus on base of pyramid communities in Africa, South East Asia and South America. We try to bring technological solutions to address poverty and destitution. Our solutions are electricity generation, water purification and food preservation. I am currently working to establish an off-road electric truck project I call the Eridanos. The Eridanos is designed to be a rugged, fit for purpose, cost effective, modular, electric, transport solution for deployment to communities and villages in the Under Developed World where up to 3 billion people live. The Eridanos is designed to meet base-of-pyramid domestic, agricultural and commercial needs. It will transport water to villages, children to schools, crops to markets, the sick to clinics, etc. It can be “dropped in” to disaster areas, loaded with water purifier, energy cell, medical supplies, chiller, communication equipment, etc. In addition this vehicle is of interest to NGOs and other organisations which have need for robust, reliable and cost effective, payload carrying, transport solutions. Eridanos is but the first mile of a project that will (using electric trucks, boats, planes, drones and trains) link base of pyramid communities in the Under Developed World with middle class residents of the USA and EU.

Roman Europe had more paved roads than the African Continent has today. Many of the roads (and railways) exist to service the mining and drilling operations of International companies. 70% of Africans (65% of Asians) live in rural remote regions without roads, railways, electricity or any means to improve quality of life.

Without infrastructure, Africa, Asia and South America have no effective and reliable means of transport. In consequence, agricultural, economic, educational and societal progress is impeded. Up to 40% of agricultural produce is lost because there is no way to transport it. Agricultural productivity itself is frustrated because, without transport, farming (planting, tending and harvesting) is restricted to small geographic areas near villages which in turn depletes soil nutrients and reduces harvests. Without transport; thousands of children die of treatable illnesses; millions of women and children walk for hours every day to collect and carry water, food, firewood, forsaking education and family life; millions of schoolchildren have to walk over 5 kilometres to and from school, shortening their day, stunting intellect and putting them at physical risk en route. Commercial enterprise, communications, banking, the delivery of post and packages, goods and equipment, are also impossible.

Is there a forum within bitcoin.com to present and seek funding? Project costs are about €15 million. When I have prototypes I have some options to move to full production. An interesting route is to use The Block Chain to build a crypto currency to "wrap" batches of e.g. 500 vehicles for leasing to base of pyramid communities (organised as cooperative bodies) in target market areas. The cooperatives will pay leasing fees using the same crypto currency directly to the wrap investors. And it is all secured and coordinated by The Block Chain contract. This method will be repeated constantly. You can see that the risk and later capital requirement is borne by the wrap investors. I can also use the Eridanos chassis and power plant to build commercial vans, minibuses, jeeps, etc. That will improve economy of scale. The project can be great fun and morally rewarding.

We seek to build a coalition of partners, investors and collaborators. Investors can expect returns as dividends on Preference Shares from Year 4. Assistance and support, regardless of its value or size, will help us take a step forward (e.g. prototyping, road testing factory production line, ICO, etc).

Should this project not be appropriate within this forum, let me know snd I will delete.

Kind regards

Mahon Slattery
