Hi,
I have a backup of a 5-year old wallet file that was created with bitcoin-qt years ago locked away on an old hard drive. I think there is only like 1/2 a bitcoin on the file because I was using it for webhosting, etc for business purposes. It was only $20/btc then. I might have even received more bitcoin because we were all tossing around bitcoin codes like baseballs back then. At least I'm hoping. And yes, I still have what I think is my phrase locked away safe. I hope it is my phrase. LOL
I'm wondering:
1) how hard will it be to resurrect this file? I'm assuming I just rename it to wallet.dat after installing the software and opening it? At least that is what I've read.
2) Does it really take 80+ gigs as the software states? If so, can I use a different software because I don't have 80 gigs and can't afford a new drive.
3) If I am stuck using bitcoin-qt and requiring 80+ gigs, how long will it take to see if I really even have a bitcoin left or more?
And for the guy who ripped me off 1 bitcoin when it was $20.00, I hope you spent it already and now you're kicking yourself in the booty unless you really truly needed it for your kids, wife, or a pet then I'll forgive you.
