Wall of Coins warning [update: appears to be a miscommunication, see thread]

Thu Feb 18, 2016 7:00 pm

I just saw the following warning about Wall of Coins on bitcoinity.org.

It appears that Wall of Coins has agreed to an advertisement deal with bitcoinity.org, and are refusing to honor their end of the agreement. Note: this is in no way balanced news, this is only bitcoinity's side of the story. So it is not posted to state with certainty that there are any issues at Wall of Coins. BUT - these types of signs are important when considering who to do business with.

I have never used them, but apparently they are a market maker that allows people to buy and sell bitcoins for cash.

Thanks for posting this, we need these sort of warnings posted.

I think it would be a good idea to including a "site warning" board on the forum for these situations.
Anybody else think this would be a good addition to the forum?

The CEO of WoC has responded in the reddit post. Methinks it's a huge misunderstanding handled improperly. No responses made from Bitcoinity's side right now, I still have time to make more popcorn.

Yeah to be clear he wrote: "We are still asking for a GPG signature from you with bitcoin amount/address. If you need help, PM me and I'll be more than happy to get this settled."

Thanks for the update and link to reddit.

So it appears to have been resolved and from the looks of it, it was poor communication. Asking for a PGP signed message with the bitcoin address is not unreasonable - but it does beg the question if this was agreed to beforehand or if wall of coins was changing the process on their own initiative. I have the feeling it was the latter - and in that case the responsibility is with them to manage the new expectations.

Anyway, everything seems OK from where I am standing! I'll update the title to reflect.
