Buying Bitcoin - Transaction fee

Wed Nov 08, 2017 9:11 pm

Hi,

Using Bitcoin Wallet app I have purchased Bitcoins using Credit card.
Simplex service has charged me $13.5 for every transaction.

Do I have to pay this much transaction fee every time or is there any alternative.
Thank you,

Bitcoin itself has outrageous fees right now and they are only going to get worse. Bitcoin Cash is the better, low-fee version of Bitcoin that you should use instead.

You can buy Bitcoin Cash at https://localbitcoincash.org or you can buy ETH or LTC at Coinbase.com, then use Shapeshift.io to convert them to BCH while sending them to your private wallet.

That sounds a bit complicated, but it's really quite easy :) If you have questions, please ask!

So is it better to buy bitcoin cash then convert it to bitcoin? Also I'm in New Zealand so can I buy here in New Zealand or do I have to buy it in usd and then also have the exchange rate as well as the fees? Any advice appreciated as I haven't purchased anything yet still trying to work things out it's quite confusing haha

If you want to buy Bitcoin and not Bitcoin Cash, you're best bet is to buy it directly. Be careful where you buy it though and how much. Buying on Coinbase, for example, you will get your Bitcoin, but have to pay a very large fee to get it OUT of Coinbase and into your own wallet.

Finding and using a Bitcoin ATM (or using a service like localbitcoins) will probably save you a lot in fees.

Better yet, use a different currency that doesn't have high fees as Bitcoin does.
