I don't want to lose Bitcoin Because of SegWit2X. Please Help

Tue Nov 07, 2017 6:22 am

I was watching a youtube video the other week. And the person said if you have (Bitcoin SegWit)
in your wallet that automatically becomes SegWit2X and you loose the (Bitcoin SegWit).
So basically what he said.. If you have (Bitcoin SegWit) worth approx 7K after the fork that will become SegWit2X... I don't know how much SegWit2X will be worth when its released.
Say for example SegWit2X is 1k a coin.

Example:
I have 10 (Bitcoin SegWit) worth approx 70k (todays value)
after the fork I have 10 SegWit2X worth approx 7k (approx as i don't know how much it would be worth)

I would have lost 63k??

I thought after the fork you could get the Extra SegWit2X bitcoin and keep the orginal (Bitcoin SegWit)

there for after the fork i would have 10 (Bitcoin SegWit) and 10 SegWit2X

Can someone please share some light on this topic?

The video may have been referring to certain online wallets or exchanges where you don't hold the private keys to your funds and the company may not be supporting the upcoming fork.

Before any network fork you should always withdraw funds from any online wallets or exchanges to a wallet that you control the private keys to, as long as you have the private keys to your bitcoins then you will always have access the both coins from a chain split (fork)

If you need a wallet that gives you full control over your funds then you could always use the Bitcoin.com wallet
Even if our wallet does not support a future fork you can export your private keys to a wallet that does and claim the coins.

You will get the cloned coin on the 2x chain but nobody knows what the price will be. The legacy core chain could die as well.

Ive sold my bitcoin and taken profits. If the bitcoin price goes down next week prior to the fork I will buy back bitcoin quickly and send it to the coinbase wallet that I have. They will then sort out the new 2x coin for me.

If it doesnt go down before the fork I will wait and see what happens after the fork and buy in on the winning coin.

I will buy bitcoin cash as a hedge when it goes down. Its on a separate chain and I can do this at any time. Theres a chance that BCH will prevail due to the ugly battle between core and 2x.
