Most people new to Bitcoin adopt this approach, usually from a lack of knowledge about what to do next, this where you buy some Bitcoin then sit back and wait. Its a long term approach but not much fun. I would recommend Coinbase for newbies as it is very user friendly, here is a good getting start video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1GB45_d8Vw

Trading - trading is not for everyone, especially newbies and it takes a lot of time and effort, especially if you are day trading. If you prefer the sit back approach to trading then i would recommend Coincube.io which is an index/hedge fund that will trade in the top 5/10/20/30 altcoins automatically. The fund will automatically track the top performing altcoins in the market and rebalance the fund as performance changes.

Investing - this is a bit of a mine field, it's so difficult to know what is legit. One platform i have been using for the last few months lets you invest in BTC, ETH and LTC and you get all your funds and profit back in only 6 weeks. It also lets you make withdrawals at any time. There is a good video explaining it more - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ciUkX3RwbM

Mining - Buying your own hardware is not feasible for most and is very expensive. The mining i refer to is cloud mining whereby you invest in a mining platform and take a dividend for letting the mining pool use your investment. There is a good daily return and withdraws are allowed at anytime. Check it out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRAfXS-J85U
