I think it is already possible to travel with BTC, but still there are many countries which do not accept crypto currency. I personally prefer to have different currencies, that is safer in any case. I advice you to take both coins and dollars, and even euros if you plan to visit Europe (here are just great converters for travellers by the way https://travelsites.com/currency-converter/ ).
