Hardware Wallet Subsection

Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:31 pm

Hi Members,

I am juat looking for some input to a new subsection i was thinking about creating.
We already have a section here for bitcoin wallets and hoping this will expand soon with members posting there thoughts on what wallets they find work best and most secure, and also good wallet chooses for beginners.

What I wanted to get people's thoughts on here was do you think we should have a separate subsection for hardware wallets?

Already there are a lot of good threads regarding hardware wallets and also a great one with a complete overview of most hardware wallets available.
The problem is that most of these threads are found on the bitcoin discussion board and it just doesn't seem like the right place for these threads to me.

If I get some interest in a new subthread for hardware wallets I will move all related threads there once created, until then they will stay were they are.

Regards: bitkilo.

I think maybe from a UX perspective, having another submenu tree under Wallets which is already a submenu under Bitcoin Discussion might seem a bit buried. I think "Wallets" generally speaking should cover all wallets (web wallets, desktop clients, hardware, paper, etc). Plus there are only so many hardware wallets on the market (8 or so), so maybe it doesn't justify it's own sub necessarily either. Just my two cents.

Thanks thats just the sort of answer i was looking for.
Unless i get anyone asking for a specific hardware wallet thread to be created in the next day or two i will move all thread regarding hardware wallets to the "Wallets" submenu.
Thanks for you input. :)

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. The bitcoin hardware thread should be sticky because that will help users to secure their coins.

Thanks for your input LiteCoinGuy.
The orignal reason i thought of having a separate subsection for hardware wallets was to make a clear differance between what type of wallet are availble for people to use to store their bitcoins, as there are many types of wallets availble this can be confusing for beginners.

I am now thinking that it may be a good idea to have a board just for BTC wallets with a subsection for hardware wallets.
On this board we could make members aware that with companies like Coinbase and other that although they may work well to buy and sell coins it is not a good idea to store coins on those wallets. Many people dont realise that they don't even hold their own private keys with these type of wallets.

If fact a board just on wallets would save a lot of clutter on the bitcoin discussiin board and help topics not to get too buried.
