Please Help!

Mon Aug 21, 2017 9:50 am

Hi there,

So, in 2011 after hearing a podcast I installed Bitcoin on my windows 7 machine. My balance was about 0.3 bitcoin.

In 2014, after about 3 years, I intended to do a new OS install and so I backed up my files, including wallet.dat.

Only now after another 3 years I am ready to restore my wallet.dat and get going again. The problem is I cannot find it! I think I renamed the file but I'm not sure. Yes, I feel really stupid and there is a possibility that it is gone forever.

My question is of course: Am I screwed? does my Pc's Mac address or something mean I could restore my balance somehow? will my 0.3 bitcoin be gone forever? can I find the file on my machine (if it is still here) based on something other than its name?

Please help!

Any advice appreciated.

In theory, u won't lost your BTC if you have wallet.dat .
Basically this is right, you need to find that wallet.dat file or you are lost.
