What worked for me is to hear a passionate speech about what Bitcoin is and what it's capable of from someone that I'd known and trusted for some time. To that end I've started to create a website meant to do the same thing. I then started to point all my friends, family, and colleagues at it. I've just, since the first of the year, started promoting it in threads here, on Reddit, and elsewhere. I by no means command the same traffic, but doing my part to help the people that know me and trust me may help Bitcoin grow in my area. Who knows? Maybe one day it'll grow.
