I've been thinking about what we can do to give consumers and merchants incentive to switch to bitcoin.
People often switch because things are free. Turn in your old phone and get a a different company's phone, or an upgraded phone. chriswilmer mentioned this in the Trezor AMA thread. Perhaps if we had some useful hardware (maybe a ledger wallet or trezor) and exchanges gave them out after people bought a certain amount of bitcoin, or maybe just as a gift for signing up.
Likewise for merchants. If you are a merchant and you get a free mini-ipad with blockchain.info, bitpay or another bitcoin wallet installed on it wouldn't you have so much more incentive to take bitcoin to take bitcoin and champion it's use?
These are just a couple thoughts -- I'm sure there are many other things we could give people that would make the transition easier for them and still be worth it for us (because we will have more people in the bitcoin network).
