Relationship between various wallets generated on wallet generator

Fri Jun 09, 2017 8:48 pm

I am in the unfortunate situation where I have generated a wallet on wallet generator last year. I used all the extra random clicks etc. once the wallet was generated, I copied the public key and saved it off. I switched to the paper wallet tab and not realizing that it was a different set of keys, pro ted it off. Over the next year, I added to the paper wallet but I was sending to the original tab public key. So now I can see my 7 bitcoins out there but do t have that private key. Is there a relationship between the various keys generated in a sitting on wallet generator? Please help!

Wow that really stinks. I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't have the private key at all there is nothing you can do. There is no relationship between the keys, they use random entropy to generate a public and private key hash.

Just to make sure, when you generated the keys you didn't use a passphrase did you? If you did and had that then you could get it back. But if it was truly random then there would be no way.

Thanks for the response. Yep I am totally depressed now. I probably had $7K of my money invested and it was worth $20K. Those wallet generators need some improvement. I didn't even realize I had generated more than one wallet. I thought that I only generated one and the paper wallet was more like a different view. So I didn't even think that there were more than one public key that I generated in that sitting. It's strange as the thing that takes all the time is up front so it seemed that it was generating one set of public/private keys at that point. Ah well, time to liquidate something and get back in the game for the real moonshot coming over the next several years!!!!

Sorry again, that sucks! But you seem to be thinking positive and are long on bicoin which is a good thing. Hopefully over time you will be able to recoup your money.
