I bought Bitcoin, but no idea where it is.

About 5 to 6 years ago I bought around $50us worth of bitcoin, and tried a auction site. I wasn't able to purchase anything, and I had many things going on so I gave up. At this point, I know it was at least 5 years and 3 laptops later and I have no idea where it is. I am wondering if anybody knows if there were many companies selling at that time? If not, what were the main companies tied to auction sites? Any ideas on how to find out?

I don't understand what help you need.
You tried to buy bitcoins 5 -6 years ago but wasn't able to purchase anything, why do you want to know how many companies were selling back then?
There would not have been too many, MtGox would have been the most popular back then.

Did you ever transfer your coins out of the exchange you bought them at? More than likely they are long gone if you did not as almost no exchanges from that long ago still exist.

Try coinbase.com Also try looking at the email you would have used and search it for bitcoin or Please Verify Your Email Address..... Try searching your email for that specific time frame...... you will find it! Also and I know this sounds off but ask Archangel Chamuel for his help. I swear this works.... I just asked for you. Ive found so many of mine and other peoples long lost stuff with his help. A diamond lost for 5 weeks was found in the same drawer that was search 3 times.... a car key found in a shop a block away from the bar the person was in.... my spare key for my car Id been looking for for 2 years in the drawer next to my bed..... trust me you have nothing to lose.....

Thanks for the replies, apparently it could have been taken in a way not intended. I bought the bitcoin and then tried to use them. Thank you Rmcdermott, and papascrubs for a place to start.

never ever buy or sell your bitcoins on an unsecured site. I've been scammed as well when the time that I was a beginner. Use a secure site such as paxful.com I used this site to buy and sell my bitcoins. Hope this helps.
