Do you have any insight as to who is actually making that claim?

Please update us if they have any actual evidence of scamming.

"Scammy." LOL.

Quite unlike theymos's bitcointalk.org which has a spotless record of no scams ever, yeah? :P ;) 8-)

Bitcointalk has in fact been the central conduit for the vast majority of Bitcoin-related scams & frauds throughout history.

Which makes this "warning" quite funny.

AFAICT, this forum is scam free for now. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I don't. I just noticed it when I joined the IRC channel the other day.
Please update us if they have any actual evidence of scamming.
Of course!

I think they are being pissy in regards to people being able to promote their service (wallet ect). I'm not sure though.

I'll pass along anything I see.

I had a chance to pop into the IRC a bit tonight:

[22:46] <gmaxwell> BayAreaCoins: I don't know the context for the topic update. but it may be because for a while it was an exact clone of bitcoin.org but with people paying to place 'wallets' that had been intentionally excluded from bitcoin.org due to being sketchy and/or having bad security.
[22:46] <gmaxwell> and also having a page that looks like a donate to your favorite wallet thing, but the addresses all go to the bitcoin.com operators.
[22:47] <BayAreaCoins> Makes sense. Strikes me as more "sketchy" than "scammy". Thanks Maxwell
[22:48] <gmaxwell> yea, Agreed, there might be other things I don't know about.
[22:48] <BayAreaCoins> Ya I was wondering if I was missing something. I'm going to look it over again tomorrow though
[22:48] <gmaxwell> At least the page that makes it look like you're donating to wallets but really paying the site might have been what earned the scammy moniker.
[22:48] <BayAreaCoins> if I see anything that looks "scammy" I'll be sure to post it.

I don't think a single person anywhere in the world was ever confused as to what the bump addresses did.
It is explained clearly on the site, and just a few people have sent coins to bump their favorite services.
I think it is a super nice way to automate dealing with advertisers, and wasn't possible before the invention of bitcoin.

If you haven't seen it already, take a look:
