Wed Feb 15, 2017 1:27 am

In this guide we will walk you through setting up your very own cold storage wallet. Before diving into the process, you may be wondering what is cold storage?

In simple terms, cold storage refers to keeping your bitcoin completely offline. Cold storage, also known as a cold storage wallet, is the opposite of a hot wallet where your bitcoin is kept online. Since Bitcoin is a digital asset, keeping them online increases your risk or attack surface for having your bitcoin stolen when kept online using a custodial service. By keeping your bitcoin in cold storage, your attack surface is greatly diminished.

I have a question and it may be dumb...if it is sorry before hand . Is there a way to go anywhere and pick up a preset wallet for convenience? Looking at all the problems with btc they all roll around wallets ! If there was a location in major cities to acquire ful half or quarter btc. It would slide into use so safe ..just asking thanx...does someone smell a business opportunity? Ian

Sure, you can use a web wallet or a mobile app wallet. There are many, some good ones are Blockchain.info wallet for the web and Breadwallet for iOS. You can find even more to choose from here: https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet

I don't have much experience with those two apps but you can use any Bitcoin wallet to sends funds offline to a cold storage wallet address.
