Unable to get funds sent

Wed Dec 21, 2016 9:08 pm

I am very new to bitcoin and have created the wallet called unlimited wallet. Well I had some funds sent to me to this wallet but I am unable to get these funds into my account balance. Is there someone out there that can help me. At the bottom of my wallet screen it says synchronyzing with network but is 3 years 10 weeks behind. It has also said no blocchain sourse available.

It should speed up, give it a few hours.

Have you tried restarting the software at all since you first installed it?

If you have, it could be a problem with your firewall. You will need to look and make sure that bitcoind is allowed to run.

I am running bitcoin unlimited. I think maybe some how I have set up my wallet wrong. Is that possible? It was all pretty straight forward. Currently at the bottom of my wallet window it is "No block source available". What does that mean and could that be my problem?

Is this a fresh install or are you switching from Bitcoin Core to Bitcoin Unlimited?

It appears you cannot connect to download the blockchain, thus why I suggested checking your firewall settings.

Hi cenderud,

Bitcoin Unlimited is a full Bitcoin client and is an alternative to the original Bitcoin Core client. This client is a full Bitcoin node that helps the Bitcoin network relay transactions, however, it requires at least 50 gigabytes (probably more now) of hard disk space as it requires you to download the entire blockchain.

If you wallet has already generated a bitcoin address then you should be able to access your private key for the address that you had funds sent to, can you find an option that says something like "export private key" ?
Once you export your private key you can then import that into another desktop wallet like Electrum or Mycelium to access your funds.

If you are really interested in running a full node and learning about how bitcoin works under the hood then you could always look into buying one of these: https://store.bitcoin.com/products/the- ... n-computer

If you can't find anything about your private keys that should be there somewhere then you may just have to wait for the blockchain to finish downloading .
How close is the download to finished?

It is saying no block source available and has 3 years and 10 weeks to go. This does not seem righe.

Yeah may need to open port 8333 on your router or software firewall. That would be the only reason you would not be able to connect to the other nodes.

Using a hot spot I guess there is no ports to open nor to forward. Does bitcoin maybe need my hot spot username and password in order to complete the transaction? If so how would I get that information available to bitcoin?

What is so frustrating about all this is I can see the transaction but it just will not go into my balance.

If there isn't a block source, it means that your client cannot connect to other nodes. You could try manually adding nodes to your bitcoin.conf in your Roaming folder, or getting your wallet.dat from the same folder and transferring it to a wallet like Electrum.

Haha, I understand.

What I meant is that your client seems to not be able to connect to any other devices on the Bitcoin network, so it is not able to completely download what it needs to.

You could try exporting your private keys to a different wallet, to avoid this. Try Electrum.

I'll link you to a thread on how to do this.

Here's an easy guide on exporting the private key.

https://github.com/OmniLayer/omniwallet ... wallet.org

The address you use is the one you used to receive the Bitcoin.

You don't have to use omni wallet, you can use a service like blockchain.info.

at the bottom left of my Bitcoin Classic it now says Synchronizing with network, then a small amount of green bar and it states 3 years and 4 weeks behind. Is there any way to stop this 3 years 4 weeks behind thing as I believe this is stopping my transaction from being seen.

Well you just have to cope with that, the client is just downloading the blockchain, I think.

It'll definitely take a while to sync, 3 years and 4 weeks of transaction history is a pretty good amount to download.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to speed it up, you have to download like a file to your computer, not sure which one.

Is there a file I can download to my PC that would speed up the updating process of my bitcoin core wallet which is at 2 years and 26 weeks and moving very slow. Any help would be appreciated very much.

You could try having a read through these links, you may find something that will help.

I haven't looked through them myself yet so not sure if they will help your particular situation but worth having a look at.

you don't need to wait for your wallet is fully synced to extract your private key.
just click on 'debug window'
select the 'console' tab
type: walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
type: dumpprivkey [your public key here]
this will return the private key, you can copy it now;

at this step, you will be able to import your private key in a lightweight wallet like electrum ...
and finally: your coins are safe and back to you!

best regards
