After a long time of waiting, it finally happens; the release of Bitcoin Core 0.13.1 prepares the activation of Segregated Witness. Since October 27, the new release has been available for download. But the new transaction format will not get activated until late November...

This is going to be a massive step in the right direction. Malleability, while not as widespread as it previously was, is still a nightmare scenario for many pieces of crypto related software that require a precise txid.

Also, as I'm sure people have noticed, blocks are completely full and tx take forever to confirm. While this is not a permanent solution, thus will help greatly minimize block size in the short term.
