igot users are complaining about delays again

Wed Oct 07, 2015 4:34 pm

I'm curious to know if there are any other igot exchange users complaining about withdrawal delays? igot is an Australian based exchange, and has had problems in the past, and actually scores pretty low on our community ranking scale. But it seems it's coming up again in a few places that they are having withdrawal delays again. I'm wondering if this is due to the banking issues surrounding Australia that has come up recently, or is it more sinister and in typical igot fashion where they have been having problems historically with users and withdrawals and owing people money? Are there any igot users here that know more? I also tweeted to them (they responded to me in the past), and I sent their CEO a private email in hopes they would respond, although no response yet from him.

Just to update this thread, I did speak with the CEO Rick Day, who gave me an interview and a lot of details on what's going on with igot and their exchange issues, if you'd like to read the interview, you can here: http://bitcoinx.io/news/articles/igot-b ... -problems/

Pretty cool that you got an interview with Rick Day, i will read that article next.

Im in Australia and our rules regarding bitcoin have changed a bit in the last couple of years which is a good thing because it shows they are paying attenion.
I have not used igot before but have heard in the past that they can be slow. I use Coinjar and never had any problems so i don't think the igot payment being slow has anything to do with Australian laws.

Thanks. He was hard to get in touch with, which I think may be part of the problem (they have little customer support or customer communications). I didn't know you were in Australia, did you read my post on the exchange climate in Australia? I tried to give a good rundown of things there re: bitcoin exchanges.

I don't use many exchanges here but have tried most and will stick with what i know and like - Coinjar.

A little off topic but have you heard of livingroomofsatoshi.com and if so have you done a story on them i can read?
I use this company sometimes to pay bills if i am BTC rich and Fiat poor that week, well i used to use it a lot more until i got my Coinjar swipe card now not so much.
They seem like a good company, shut down about a year ago due to Australian regulations but now open for business again.

Yes, I have. I've actually talked to Daniel from there a while back, they seemed like a great place but I never included them on our site because they didn't allow users to buy bitcoin and it seemed more geared toward bill paying.

I posted this earlier in the year - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1041548.0

(Australia) BPAY recall: How to show igot.com the respect they deserve.
April 29, 2015, 12:15:45 AM

Contact your bank, in person if possible, and explain that there's a problem with a bpay payment made from your account. Don't expect that the teller will immediately know what to suggest but, if they don't, tell them you'd like to do a 'bpay recall'. Be prepared to wait for a more experienced teller to assist.

I did this at a Bendigo branch but I think this is more to do with the bpay system rather than individual banks - there are a number of set justifications for making this request, one of which is 'incorrect reference number'. This is what I chose - which I'll explain below.

I was told to expect a 7 to 10 day wait before my money (not igot's money) would be back in my account. Again, due to the bpay system, there is a $20 fee for a bpay recall - which I accepted as the cost of taking a chance with a shitty bitcoin exchange and not researching customer feedback prior to risking my money.

Roughly seven days later, my money, minus $20, has been returned to my bank account.

As for choice of justification... If a biller gives you a bpay reference number and you make a payment that subsequently doesn't get credited to your account, any number of things could have happened. The least suspicious of which is that you made a mistake entering the reference number. Choosing this particular justification gives the biller the benefit of the doubt. But, on the topic of doubt, the biller could be an abusive arsehole that treats their customers with contempt and makes bullshit excuses about fraud in the bpay system that necessitates Orwellian identification measures that are unheard of with any other biller I've ever encountered - all the while holding your money in limbo. Or, the biller could just be a fucking thief.

In summary, fuck you, igot. Fuck You Very Much. Do not trust these fucking arseholes with your money.
