How can I transfer BCH TO BTC

Tue Jan 29, 2019 6:31 pm

I am a starter and knows nothing about BTC or BCH, I created a bitcoin account with bitcoinwallet.com and i sent it to my friend to buy and send me btc, but instead she bought BCH and now I can't access it in my BTC account on bitcoinwallet.com . She sent me a link ( www.blocktrail.com) to confirm and verity that she actually send the BTC and when I clicked on the link and copied and paste my BTC address, I realized that she sent BCH and its been linked with my BTC address as the Legacy while the BCH she sent is on the Cash (Q) address . Can some guide me on how to transfer it from Cash address to the Legacy ???? HELP !!!!!

Hi Kevin,

I'm not really familiar with bitcoinwallet[.]com but at a glance it looks like an online web wallet or custodial wallet.

Does your account at their site give you access to your private keys (each bitcoin address or public key has a private key which is required to send coins from that address). The referenced website may, or may not, give users access to private keys.

You may want to contact their support to and explain to them that you, or your friend, sent Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to your BTC address. Their support team may be able to help you recover the BCH.

The private keys are the same on each chain. If you, or your wallet provider, have the private key for the BTC address the BCH was sent to you can import (or sweep is another option) the BCH into a wallet which supports BCH.

Hi Danvee,

If needed you can search for the address(es) on a block explorer and you should be able to ascertain that transaction ID(s).

Bitcoin Cash (BCH): explorer.bitcoin.com/bch

Bitcoin Core (BTC): explorer.bitcoin.com/btc
