How do I link my paper wallet to blockchain.com, nd send my bitcoin from coinbase to my paper wallet?

Wed Dec 26, 2018 10:57 am

Howdy,

So I've got bitcoin on Coinbase.com, and have created a Paper Wallet through bit address.com. I've been trying to register my Paper Wallet on Blockchain.com but I can't seem to use the site, as when I click on any of the links on the left, the right side or centre stay's blank ?
I figure I have to register my Paper Wallet with Blockchain, then somehow input my Paper Wallet into Coinbase.com to allow Blockchain.com to record Coinbase sending my Bitcoin to my Paper Wallet. Is this correct folks.

Hi,

There is no registration. If you have a bitcoin address (based on what you've stated you generated a bitcoin address at bitaddress.org (you wrote .com but you probably meant .org)

When you lookup your address on a block explorer (e.g., please try explorer.bitcoin.com or blockchain.com/explorer are you using the public key (public address) or are you using the private key?

Please DO NOT use the private key. You should search for the public address.

Please never share your private key(s) (or backup phrase / mnemonic / seed words) with anyone. Moreover, when adding them to a wallet application please make sure to exercise due diligence (is the wallet app safe and secure?).

In any event, you can add addresses (and private keys if you want to send transactions from the addresses) which were generated outside of the Blockchain.com (previously Blockchain.info) wallet to the Blockchain.com (previously Blockchain.info) wallet. For instructions please see: blockchain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/207746403-Wallets-Addresses

In regard to an account at Coinbase.com (a custodial account, not exactly the same thing as a wallet) I don't believe you can add addresses (other than generating new addresses within your account).

If you need additional help, or disagree with anything stated in the foregoing, please post another comment below.

In any event, a paper wallet is meant for offline storage or for transferring bitcoins offline (e.g., gift). Adding the address (and / or the private key) to online account or a software wallet defeats the purpose of the paper wallet (unless you ready to use the bitcoins in a transaction).

Thank you so much for your reply. If your willing to, I'd like a Skype chat with you so I can fire away questions ?? Perhaps in exchange for Bitcoin or cash ??

YOU SAID THE BELOW-

"When you lookup your address on a block explorer (e.g., please try explorer.bitcoin.com or blockchain.com/explorer are you using the public key (public address) or are you using the private key?"
ARE YOU SAYING I CAN TYPE IN MY PUBLIC ADDRESS AND IT'LL SHOW UP ?
IF SO, WOULD YOU SUGGEST I SEARCH OTHERS PUBLIC ADDRESSES BEFORE SENDING CRYPTO TO THEM ?
ALSO, ONCE I'VE BOUGHT OR SOLD, HOW DO I FIND FOLK WHO ARE WILLING TO BUY OR SELL SOMETHING-LIKE A HOUSE IN CRYTO ?
AND, COULD YOU PLEASE RUN THROUGH AN EXAMPLE OF A SELL OR BUY, ENDING WITH EXCHANGING THE BITCOIN TRANSFERED INTO CASH IN A BANK ACCOUNT ?

"Please never share your private key(s) (or backup phrase / mnemonic / seed words) with anyone. Moreover, when adding them to a wallet application please make sure to exercise due diligence (is the wallet app safe and secure?)."
AND YET YOU'VE SAID I CAN ADD THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE KEYS TO A WALLET ??
DOESN'T THE WALLET RECORD IT ?
ALSO, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ON SAFE AND SECURE WALLETS ?

In any event, you can add addresses (and private keys if you want to send transactions from the addresses) which were generated outside of the Blockchain.com (previously Blockchain.info) wallet to the Blockchain.com (previously Blockchain.info) wallet. For instructions please see: blockchain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/207746403-Wallets-Addresses"
SO ONCE I'VE INPUTED MY PRIVATE KEY INTO BLOCKCHAIN, (BEFORE I START BUYING AND SELLING) CAN'T SOME ONE SEARCH AND SEE MY PRIVATE KEY ?
ALSO, BLOCKCHAIN NOW HAS MY PRIVATE KEY ? IS IT HACKABLE ?

IS IT EASIER AND SAFER TO BUY AND SELL P2P VIA EMAIL ? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON P2P ?

YOU ALSO SAID-
"In any event, a paper wallet is meant for offline storage or for transferring bitcoins offline (e.g., gift). Adding the address (and / or the private key) to online account or a software wallet defeats the purpose of the paper wallet (unless you ready to use the bitcoins in a transaction)."

HOW DO I BUY AND SELL USING MY BITADDRESS.ORG PAPER WALLET ?

AND IF I UNDERSTAND CORRECTLY, ONCE I HAVE MY PAPER WALLET, I CAN BUY OR SELL IN AN EXCHANGE BY ONLY INPUTING MY PUBLIC KEY, OR BY SENDING MY PUBLIC KEY VIA EMAIL WHEN CHOOSING P2P, OR EVEN IN A WALLET THAT OFFERS BUYING AND SELLING ? IF THIS IS CORRECT, COULD YOU PLEASE GIVE AN EXAMPLE OF THE PROCESS FOR EACH ?

AS YOU CAN SEE, PERHAPS YOU'D PREFER (FOR AN EXCHANGE) TO HAVE A SKYPE CHAT ?
