Russians using bitcoin for 6% of web purchases?

This seems a big increase in the last year or so. Also I'm rather surprised that already over one percent of 'free' countries use bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies for web purchases.

Here is the original article.

Those almost certainly can't be bitcoin transactions. I mean, the network can currently only scale to 7 transactions per second I believe. Even if all transactions were Russian, that seems way to low for a 6% figure.

Of course transactions could be off chain. But I have not heard such news coming out of Russia.

And it does say 'or other cryptocurrencies'. I wonder which one (s).

I doubt it's really 6%, but Russia is definitely getting more and more interested in Bitcoin: http://coin.dance/charts/RUB
