Building An Accurate List Of The Most Reputable Charities In Bitcoin, All Community Input Is Appreciated!

I started this thread to build an accurate & comprehensive list of the most reputable charities within the Bitcoin community. Hopefully in time as a combined group we can participate in crowd funders on The Forum that benefit the many global charities in need of donations & drives. Please feel free to list any charities that accept donations in the form of Bitcoin & we will build from there. Thank you in advance for your contributions to this jam.

I have a friend from Peterborough that comes to my Bitcoin MeetUps in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. He has been a volunteer at a place called The Warming Room which is run 100% by volunteers. They currently are only open during the winter months to support the homeless during the hardest part of the year, as it gets really cold here in Canada.

He has approached me to ask if there is a way we can setup Bitcoin donations for the place, which I'm working to implement. Another idea I had was to reach out to the community for Bitcoin swag, such as winter hats and gloves with some Bitcoin logos. This would help spread the word about Bitcoin well giving those less fortunate and struggling to stay warm and get a job the essentials they need.

Currently Peterborough has the highest unemployment rate in Canada. Would love to hear what others think of this idea

Awsome input! TY very much friend, I'm just getting to the forum for the day I will look over your listed charities. I am very big into helping with homelessness personally I had a loved one who died on the streets of NYC after fighting the war of vietnam & when he needed help his government was to no avail. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, thank for stopping by, I'll return shortly with my feedback. :D

I'm sorry to hear about your friend... it's truly sad when someone gives themselves to help defend the freedom we all enjoy but we turn a blind eye when they need our help. I saw a video the other day that upset me and shows just how messed up our thinking and society is these days.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ilxjo5RlzFc

My thinking has always been that as you lift up those around you, you lift yourself up as well. The problem we face today is the divide not between race but class. We need more middle class to help lift up those less fortunate, instead we are getting a much bigger divide between rich and poor, well the middle class is only around due to massive credit/debit.

IMO education is the key to lifting up those around you. I'd love to set something up at The Warming House to help educate those which want to learn but just don't have the resources to do it. First thing is to give them the essentials that they need to improve their standard of living, then empower them by teaching them skills which they can use to better themselves.

Similar to the saying "If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime"

"Not one man can do everything, but everyone can do something"

I'll be rolling out my biannual review and update by Thanksgiving Thursday.

I would appreciate any suggestions for the list. Thanks.
