Bitcoin Analytics

Fri Sep 25, 2015 10:18 pm

To the layperson (the majority atm), bitcoin is still a very vague and esoteric concept. Blockchain visualizations like blockseer.com or novel applications like bitlisten.com give the user a tangible notion of what bitcoin is.

I am working on several applications and tools that can provide blockchain insight with a focus on user experience. Is anyone working on something similar, or would anyone be interested in collaborating?

My efforts have been building using a mix of web application frameworks (MEANstack, RoR) and analytics tools (R, Python, d3.js).

These type of projects will help bridge the divide possibly faster than getting people up to speed on http and email in the 90's.

I definitely favor working in js. dc.js looks very capable, and could probably do everything in d3. I myself would be interested in developing the data flows and/or UX. I haven't spent too much time building visualizations, but I hope to.

I imagine if we were to start pulling and visualizing blockchain data, we could eventually grow to analyze trading behavior for patterns and trends.

Do you know of any blockchain APIs? It would be a huge start if we had a reliable API to query the blockchain. If not, might try to build it myself.
