“Bitcoin is HTTP for money. We are HTTPS,”

Wed Nov 04, 2015 4:31 pm

BITCOIN, DESPITE ITS reputation as anonymous internet cash, was never designed for perfectly private payments. For the promise of fully untraceable money, cryptocurrency fans have been waiting for Zerocoin—a technology designed to have default uncrackable anonymity. After years of development, that incognito cryptocash is finally showing signs of a life, now in the form of a stealthy startup.

Late last week, a company calling itself the Zerocoin Electric Coin Company................... continued at: http://www.wired.com/2015/11/zerocoin-s ... ous-money/

so many anonymous coins out there... i think the killer anonymous coin is going to be Bitcoin by piggy backing on top of an existing coin. same concept as if you were to put cash in an envelope then hand the envelope to someone else. the cash is tracable, but the envelope isnt. it would just look as if the cash never moved, but only the envelope moves.

i believe this is what nxt + the supernet system is trying to solve once nxt's coin shuffling comes into play in a few months. you can basically send BTC riding on top of NXT's platform anonymously.

roger, i think you should take a deep look at nxt and see for yourself if you haven't already. its not really competition to btc, but more of a platform that's going to coexist with btc.

Wouldn't that anonymity practice require multiple currency conversions?

Arguably, we'll see a major contribution to the anonymity/privacy vector of bitcoin through the Confidential Transactions research currently being done. Sidechains add another possibility for a completely anonymous, 2-way pegged token.

Currently, I believe ShadowCash has a great potential to be a test/research platform for anonymity built into Bitcoin. It's a Proof of Stake altcoin. Forked from Blackcoin, written on the Bitcoin codebase, it integrates stealth addresses and cryptonote-like ring signatures/NIZKPs to create a dual token blockchain like those proposed by Zerocoin and Zerocash (a public blockchain exists like Bitcoin's (with a public coin) that allows for completely private transactions (using private tokens) to be carried out on top of it).

Very interesting stuff, looking forward to seeing the integration of the Zerocash protocol.

there is so much noise in the anonymous coin space, a coin here and there. shadow does look nice i must say, but thats just maketing and design. imo, i dont think any anonymous coin will survive over time due to the number of copy cats out there and the many initial stakeholder agendas. i believe the anonymous coin is already here and its Bitcoin combined with something else to mix it properly. Hence an anonymous bitcoin transaction. Bitcoin will have to sit on top of some crypto-rails framework platform to make it anonymous mitigating middle man cost to almost zero. right now its either ethereum or nxt thats going to decentralize and automate the mixing service by cutting out the middleman.

sorry but thats just another clone coin of btc. anything here on and out that even looks remotely like btc's core gui wallet is just isn't going to fly. if it was maybe 2 years ago when every single week a new coin came out, then maybe might have a chance. now the game is who has a more robust platform that you can do something with and that people actually use.

im sure a bunch of noobs that come to this space will fall for those fancy coins with marketing lingo. try to find a coin u just can't mine.. so there is no incentive to constant get ppl to push it.
