Every article lately that mentions bitcoin has to defend itself for mentioning bitcoin by saying blockchain tech is the real point of interest.

...a Brooklyn-based startup that specialises;in blockchain, to bring Bitcoin, and its associated technology, to financial institutions, Reuters reports.
Blockchain, the technology that underpins Bitcoin, is essentially a vast, decentralised ledger that registers every transaction anonymously. As the ledger is public, blockchain is virtually tamper-proof making it ideal for financial clients. Blockchain could also underpin other data exchanges and some companies are building personal blockchains that extend the functionality beyond bitcoin.

NO, you morons. It's tamper proof because myself and thousands of others decide to run a node while endless miners hash at levels that are orders of magnitude more powerful than a super computer to compete for the proof of work incentive. Call it "the blockchain" because that's what it is. The blockchain isn't something you can just fire up yourself and if you do it will not be secure.
