Can't all these ICOs be built without having an ICO, using Ethereum for the currency instead of their own coin?

Wouldn't this supplant the ICOs, because an optional 0.1% donation is way easier for users to deal with than the costs of dealing with yet another fucking wallet, volatile exchange ratio, and trade costs associated with it?
