Once again, this needs to be repeated for the masses:

SEGWIT IS NOT A SCALING SOLUTION.

You do not have to be able to read code to understand this very simple point.

Please don't be rude and intellectually dishonest. If you want to have a conversation let's do that from a place of intellectual honesty.

Of course SegWit is not a scaling solution in itself. It does scale on-chain transactions without increasing the max_block_size through SegWit transactions. As a result of fixing the transaction malleability bug (also known as Satoshi's bug), it enables a number of scaling solutions to be implemented such as: Lightning Networks, Sidechains, Schnorr Signature Aggregation, TumbleBit, and other solutions.

Truly massive scaling of the blockchain will only happen with Layer 2 networks -- as everyone who works in this space is well aware.

I'm just glad something is being done and part of it includes a block size increase. Part of me wants to believe there is a huge amount of money just waiting to be poured into BTC but the artificial limit on the # of transactions is stifling this. I'm ready for even a tiny crack to open in those floodgates! :D

And if what the BU team is saying is true and we run up to the new block size limit and BTC has the same problems again, there should be more openness towards a full-on block size increase scaling solution.

IME when I hear weaselly statements like this, 99% of the time the actual truth turns out to be the opposite of what was just said.

SegWit is the best scaling solution, people finally understand this. Hopefully it will activate but you should protect yourself with a UASF Node:

go to uasf.co and download the software :)

So it means we might not have hard fork. I hope this segwit2x happens and bitcoin issues will settle down and its growth continue to make new highs in coming months.
