Exactly this. I always hate when they blame bitcoin. It's like blaming a computer brand company when someone gets hacked.

Of course not! But how do we convince our friends and families who aren't into bitcoin yet that bitcoin isn't just a "criminals currency"?

I was just talking to my Father about Bitcoin in investment terms. His first response was, "nah, bitcoin is money for drug dealers." I had to kindly reply, actually the currency that's used in the most drug deals historically is the almighty Dollar. He didn't respond, but it didn't change his mind either.

News of hackers, ransom, and carribbean islands using bitcoin to fund their gambling industry doesn't help the long-term adoption of this Project.

What can we shift this paradigm?

Blaming Bitcoin for this is the equivalent of blaming cash for a bank robbery.

Just as the case with the wannacry attacks, just because Bitcoin is being used, does not mean it wouldn't happen without Bitcoin.

Many ransomware in the past has required prepaid gift cards.
