Launch a Minecraft server with Bitcoin

Sat Feb 04, 2017 1:31 am

https://launch.sporestack.com/#minecraft

I added a launch profile for Minecraft to SporeStack today. No account needed to spin up a server. Lasts for 1-28 days. Just vanilla, but if you spin it up via the SporeStack CLI you can SSH in and tailor it to your desires if you have the know-how.

Enjoy!

I just lowered Satoshi prices by 25% and added a section under the QR code that shows the price in US dollars and cents.

Please give it a try if you're curious: https://launch.sporestack.com/#minecraft

Nice. Are there any fees for using your platform? And what bitcoin exchange rates do you use?

I was wondering if you're thinking of creating new launch profiles, like ones for CSGO/TF2/CSCO servers? I would be interested in hosting a couple for scrims.

Thank you for your interest!

https://launch.sporestack.com doesn't charge any fees over what https://sporestack.com has. Since I run both I don't need to collect fees on both ends. The web launcher is actually all open source, partly to help show a working implementation using SporeStack in (mostly) Javascript.

The SporeStack prices are currently set manually. It's a function of the upstream hosting provider fees and a base Satoshi multipler. I dropped the multiplier by 25% yesterday. The fiat price estimator uses bitcoinaverage.com's current USD->BTC ask price: https://github.com/coinfee/bitcoin-fiat ... in-fiat.js

I haven't played any of those games in a while nor hosted them before, but if I have enough interest I can try to put something together. If you want you can also contribute a launch script with a Pull Request. Here's the Minecraft one, for example: https://github.com/sporestack/node-prof ... craft.json

And there are some tips in the README for working with launch profiles: https://github.com/sporestack/node-profiles
