I've known Erik Voorhees for nearly 6 years now.
I've invested in 4 companies he was involved with, three of which he was the founder.
1. Bitinstant (I lost everything)
2. Feedzebirds (I lost everything)
3. Coinapult (I lost everything)
4 . Shapeshift (Time will tell)
I'd even consider him a very close friend.
I'm also very saddened and confused by his support for Segwit and Core in general.
Looking at his recent tweets:

The only thing that I can think of is that Erik's cryptocoin wealth is now largely in things other than Bitcoin, and he knows that Shapeshift will do best as a company if Bitcoin's market dominance is reduced. By supporting Core's idiotic roadmap of intentional full blocks with high fees and slow confirmations, this would help further erode Bitcoin's market dominance while still knowing that crypto coins in general are certainly the currency of the future.
I'd love to hear what others think, or ideally from Erik himself.
