Use Copay and a few home electronics for a secure bitcoin wallet

Wed Sep 23, 2015 8:45 pm

There are many people who have multiple electronic devices: tablets, phones, iPads, computers, etc. Copay runs on Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, Chrome, OS X, and Windows phone.

You can install Copay on multiple devices and then create a shared wallet that only you use. For single person usage 2 of 2, 3 of 3, or 4 of 4, multisig can be very secure. To steal your bitcoins, the hacker would have to compromise every device you have as part of the shared wallet. This creates a very cheap and secure solution for people who already own multiple electronics. Using Copay on multiple OS's also increases the security.

When creating a shared wallet make sure to write down the words on paper that back up each key. Example: for a 3 of 3 multisig you should have 3 different lists of words on paper for the backup.

Screenshots look a little old. ;)

Remember everyone that as long as you actually write down those 12 words for each device in the multisig setup you can't accidentally lose the keys to sign the transaction when you want to spend it!
