Unconfirmed Parent

Fri Mar 03, 2017 12:16 am

Hello. I've been searching for hours to figure out what I did wrong. I have an Electrum Wallet. The bitcoins I received has 22 confirmations as of now. The bitcoins I tried to send say unconfirmed parent.

The only thing differently I did this time other than usual is I had to restore using my seed. I tried sending two payments and they are both unconfirmed for a very long time.

Here are the blockchain addresses

https://blockchain.info/tx/ff3ab394dfde ... 354f4d5cd4

https://blockchain.info/tx/d9c40861f916 ... 6e3a515d36

If someone could help me I'd be very appreciative!

If there is a way to completely cancel these transactions and start over I'm thinking that would be best.

The problem is that one of them was to coinbase and they instantly said they received the bitcoin but there have been zero confirmations.

Both transactions you have shown have been sent with very low fees so they could take days to confirm.

I do not use Electrum myself but i am quite sure they have added RBF now so you should be able to add a higher fee to those transactions to help them get confirmed a little quicker.

There is no way to cancel the transaction now.

So you don't think it has anything to do with having to restore my wallet? I've used electrum to send many payments and I've never messed with the fees nor do I know how to and they have all confirmed within minutes.

I will say that for the second smaller payment I did click send max so that would make sense that the fees are low on that one. But for the first one I did it exactly like I always have. Even if I could figure out how to manually raise the fees I can't because I don't have anymore bitcoin.

Since you restored your wallet it may have reset the fee structure because i haven't seen a wallet add such a low fee in a long time but that all i can think of if you didn't manually add the fees.

You could try pushing the transaction through https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ and see if that helps you.

Another member who is more familiar with Electrum may be able to help you more.

Ok thank you for the help. Hopefully that works. I'd sure like to know how to raise my fees back to normal for next time.

There should be an option somewhere within Electrum to raise the standard fee.

Unfortunately the fees are so low that site that pushes them won't accept them. Right now my electrum is set to dynamic fees. Apparently that is wrong.

Make sure you update the latest version of Electrum, which will accurately give you estimation of the fees. You can activate the RBF by checking it in the preference page. Next time you could send with higher fees of transactions.

You must always update your client(wallet) before sending if it is more than a few months since last time you did! (Or if is more than 6 months you will have to, or you should do it anyway!)
