I would suggest you a lightweight wallet, wich don't need to download the entire blockchain, like electrum ( on a computer) or like mycelium on android.

the 2 examples above are for software wallets.

another choice is about hardware wallets: ( i would suggest Trezor wallet, even if it's not the cheapest one )
or ledger wallet.

also, if you want to contribute to bitcoin network, another solution is with bitcoin core, or bitcoin classic.
( they both need to download the entire blockchain before starting to be fully usable ... and need some harddrive space to work correctly...

and finally I would highly suggest you AVOID online wallets... ( that's a good advice .. )

Kind regards

Deffy

Electrum is on the short list of everyone's favorite bitcoin wallet you can use on your laptop. The newest Electrum version enables replace by fee and dynamic fees which make it the most versatile wallet I know of. If you don't know RBF it means if you send a transaction with too low a fee and it takes too long to confirm you can boost the fee with just a few clicks.

Electrum also works flawlessly with Trezor and Nano S hardware wallets if you want the best security for your bitcoin. Electrum is free and a Ledger Nano S is $65 and that combination gives you state of the art bitcoin storage. The interface is minimalistic so read the docs to get started.
