Well, he has a couple of options, like using viabtc, giving a tip to Quickseller or macbook-air, creating a CPFP, RBF (if he opted in when creating a tx), doublespending the unconfirmed inputs of this tx... Info is in the link i previously gave.

As for a fee of 0.0005... It depends... the fee is calculated on the size (in bytes) of the transaction. This size has nothing to do with the amount of BTC you transferred, and everything to do with the amount of inputs and outputs your transaction uses/generates.

At times of big backlogs and huge fees, suggesting to use a default fee of 0.0005 might still result in a transaction with insufficient fees.

For example, if you're suggesting this to a newbie that collected BTC by claiming from faucets.
His (web) wallet (we're talking about a newbie faucet user) collected 100 unspent outputs of 0.0001. He wants to pay somebody 0.0095 BTC and adds a fee of 0.0005.

We can estimate his tx size as 100 * 149 + 1 * 34 + 100 + 1 = 15035 bytes.
https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ teaches us we should add 180 satoshi's per byte at time of writing to have a 95% chance of getting into the next couple of blocks.
15035*180 = 2706300 satoshi's.

So, when you want to spend those 100 inputs to generate 1 output, you should add a 0.02706300 BTC transaction... So basicaly, you should add a transaction fee that's higher than the combined value of the inputs.

In reality, the added 50000 satoshi's for this 15035 bytes fee, so he added 3 satoshi's per byte... Almost guaranteeing his tx to be dropped from the mempool without ever having a chance of getting into a block.

I have a similar problem. my transaction was carried out on 48 hours ago and I tried to spend the unconfirmed input by selecting a fee of 123 sat hoping that would lead to confirmation of both transactions. So far no luck . I just tried to use the https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ but I get the error message " transaction does not exist".

Is there any way to get in touch with a miner directly who can help me confirm. The sum in question isnt a lot but it owuld really hurt to lose it .
