Looks nice :) That could be used to turn any Android device into a Point of Sale or is it aimed at a PoS package, hardware and software together?

yes
as far as i understand it he is working on Android and whatnot + Desktops + a stand alone Point of Sale Terminal

By a good margin too and I'm not surprised, that's a serious amount of work for the budget requested! It would be worth keeping a watch on that team, it sounds like they really know what they're doing and if they do this one well then any of their future projects could get really solid support :)
