Bitcoin’s “Bad Boy” Brand Name Here To Stay

Thu Jan 19, 2017 2:00 pm

The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) reaffirms that bitcoin is an “official” US name for virtual currency. Incidentally, many find the name Bitcoin an “unattractive” brand name. Indeed, some have been calling for replacing its name, and its differing logos, to prevent Bitcoin’s demise. Critics also point out that Bitcoin still lacks a proper currency symbol.

Silliness. A name change would likely do more harm than good. There are plenty of people who have heard about Bitcoin but not yet taken the time to get acquainted with it. we don't want to lose that brand recognition.

For some reason I also dont like bitcoin's name just because I dont like how it sounds for some reason. But yea I agree that it's name shouldn't be changed since we could lose alot of publicity.

Anyway, I think we're currently onto a good path.
