Tiffany & Co. Ring: Hammered 18k Rose Gold Speckled with Diamonds - Price drop: 1 -> 0.5 BTC

Fri Dec 30, 2016 6:39 pm

A few years ago, my girlfriend was in Chicago for a trip. She had expressed interest in a promise ring, so I set out to find her one.

I went to a number of different jewelry stores. I found all of them to be tacky and have nothing remotely decent. Rings that were overly glamorous, made in India, and sold by salesmen who looked more at home on a buy-here-pay-here car lot.

But, there was one final store I went to. Tiffany & Co. in La Canterra. The prices were higher, but the rings were actually worth buying. And the service I found to be fantastic.

Anyway, if I recall correctly, this was the last ring of this style they had in stock. A hammered rose gold with diamonds. I'm not usually fond of jewelry, but I was quite impressed with it. I found it to be a beautiful object and it was the best, most respectable material item that I could find for her.

So, I bought it, guessing the size would work. She loved it. Her family loved it. It was one of my better calls that I've made in life -- it fit perfectly and I have not seen something more appropriate since then.

But, the ring lasted longer than the relationship. She kept the ring as I said I didn't want it back, but she offered it back recently and I decided to take it. Unfortunately, I have no use for the ring and have decided it needs a new home. I'm not very desperate to sell it and would prefer it goes to the right buyer.

It has markings on the inside of the ring. I don't believe I have the receipt anymore, but I have the box and box's box that it came with.

I'm a bit sad to let it go. I can only see normal wear under a lens and frankly, I'm very impressed by it's durability. She is a pastry chef and wore it almost all of the time, even after we broke up.

I'm not sure if you want to buy this for yourself or for your woman. If it's for your woman, it's a particularly good match if she likes copper. The color matches very well. The diamonds are small, so it's not for an ostentatious woman. If there were no diamonds, it would look like a wedding band. But because the diamonds are evenly dispersed, it's not an engagement ring.

It's just a very beautiful ring. Probably ideally, a promise ring, but I'm sure you may have another use for it in mind. Some may see 18 karat gold as a drawback, but I think it is a benefit. Gold is very soft and I suspect that 18 karat gold may be much more durable than pure 24 karat gold. A jeweler may have more insight on that regard. I believe the size is 6.5, but am not certain. I can confirm the size with calipers if you are interested, or you are welcome to try it on.

If you are a man considering this ring for your woman, please tell me about her and why you feel the ring suits her.

I can have this delivered to your door in the US for 1 0.5 BTC.

Thank you for reading. Good luck finding the right ring.

Looks solid! I'm not completely sure about the 1BTC price tag but I guess it is a fair one. Hope you get it sold, and I wish you a happy new year as well!

Thank you!

I bought it for about $1,300 and you can see the comparable rings at Tiffany are in the same range.

This is the closest Paloma Picasso ring: http://www.tiffany.com/collections/cele ... kgridpos=3

But this is the most similar ring I can find on their site: http://www.tiffany.com/explore/etoile/e ... gridpos=10

I'm not sure how much rings depreciate, but to the naked eye it looks basically brand new. I like the Etoile, but it does not have the same hammered look.

Happy New Year!

In just a couple of weeks you drop the price by half, why? And this is even after bitcoin has seen a almost $400+ usd value drop, sorry but this smells of a scam to me.
Are you willing to let the buyer use the escrow provider of their choice to have the gold and stone valued before releasing the bitcoins to you?

I'd prefer not to over complicate the transaction, but I'm open to escrow if it's reputable and terms are clear.

I posted the ring back when Bitcoin wasn't quite at its peak in the bubble. Also, I've had it on Craigslist and I keep dropping the price there. Zero bites on either, to my surprise.

I can confirm my identity if asked, but I have a long presence in the Bitcoin community and on the Internet in general.

You can see my main website here: http://go-beyond.org/

Where I mention the Bitcoin services that I run.

My Bitcointalk account, which I think I've been pretty quiet on lately: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... le;u=32897

I have a localbitcoins.com account with a good reputation, I think also under "sega01". And bitcoin-otc, but I am pretty certain I lost that PGP key.

No, I don't usually run the bigger clients or any that have such signing features.

That does show that you have control of both accounts, weather you are the original owner or not is a different question.
I find it hard to believe that someone who has been into bitcoin since 2011 doesn't use any bitcoin clients since that was all you had back in the early days.

Whoever is interested in buying this probably wouldn't care too much if you can prove your identity or not but they will want to get the piece verified by a 3rd party before purchasing so you would probably only have luck selling this local.
