I'm Hhampuz. Professional money burner, bad investor AMA

Tue Oct 18, 2016 6:00 pm

Hi,

I'm Hhampuz from Sweden. I've been in to bitcoin since 2013 and I have mostly focused on daytrading.

During my travels through the bitcoin space I have found myself burning a lot of money and doing long strings of bad decision. But I live by a trial and error code so it never bothers me.

Recently I found the physical bitcoins area very interesting and started investing in to said coins.

Does your bad decision making extend outside of the crypto world?

Hopefully you have something that will make me laugh.

Hey miffman.

My experience has been a bit up and down, there has been a lot more drama since I entered this world (never expected that) but it has also opened up my eyes to a lot of new things that I did not know existed.

All in all I'd say it has made me learn more about BTC than I did before.

I used to trade on all the big exchanges back then. Will try and list some that I remember off the top of my head;

Cryptsy
Bter.com
Mintpal
mcxNOW

There are some more that I know I did a lot of trading on, but can't remember which they were.

Hi, do you mean daytrading? It is hard to put a number to it. I've only ever invested around $5-10 and took it from there. If you talk about potential profits as a loss then I'd say we are talking $50,000+ Easily.

Actually, yes. I do gamble a lot outside of crypto aswell. Poker is one of my passions but I recently found out that I'm in a huge negative in that area, so perhaps I need to look that over. When it comes to personal life I'd say there's no such thing as a bad decision unless you find yourself in the woods naked, alone and with a bloody axe in your hand.

Most bad decisions are made out of passion. If I for example browse bitcointalk for ann threads on new coins coming out and I get too emotionally attached to said coins so I Start to invest more than I originally planned or intended. That would be the biggest one I make (Can't stop though).
Second one would probably be that I'm very stubborn. I'd rather become a bagholder and lose everything rather than selling at a 30-40-50% loss.

HA! I've actually thought about this. Every time I decide to invest in some things, I should make a list of what I don't find interesting and give that to people for a small fee. As it has happened too many times that I choose the loser when the choice stands between two equal coins.

I have been trading physical crypto for a while, and there has been way more drama this year than there has been during any other year. It's all part of the experience I guess :)

Hello Hampus.

what 's had you pushed you in the crypto world exactly ? seem you're are really young... where did your learn crypto trading ? and as you're still going to school , how do you win your life ? is this just a hobby for you ? or a real money sourcing ?

is Sweden have actually particular law for bitcoin , or is it still "obscure/no well defined " as it is actually the case for France ?

Kind regards

Hello defcon. What pushed me in was the idea, and ofcourse the stories of the value increase, remember I got in when it was valued between $900-1100. And I had heard of it before when it was around $9.
I'm not too young, but I learned about trading as soon as I learned about bitcoin. I spent $5 on amazon ec2 with the promo codes to start mining PTS (Can't remember their full name) and then started trading with other Alt's to then go full in on BTC and learn to love it.
I'm not going to school, the choices made in the past allow me to do this for a living. I'm also a gambler in the sense that I bet on e-sports and earn money from that. So I'd say this is a real money source for me.

Sweden have some laws around BTC, but right now it's mostly that you have to pay tax on it, other than that there's not much to it.

indeed .. age is mostly in the head... but under 20 years old, we can say someone is not so old... ( even not too young )
nothing wrong or bad here. as in my concern, with my 49 years old , I don't feel so old ;)

Cheers !

I'm old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.

Hey Hhampuz,

I'm curious, in the short time that you have been collecting coins, what is the most profit you managed to flip from trading physical coins? (if you've done any selling)

Well, with physicals I have not been as fortunate as I have been with daytrading. And perhaps in most cases I have been a bit naive in thinking there is profit to be made. Right now it seems like the Physical Bitcoin collectors have a tight community, with mostly people selling their stuff back and forth unless you look to sell on ebay.

The most profit is probably right around 0.3BTC on one item. But I held an auction for 20items recently where I took a huge loss, literally every item in that auction went way below what I originally paid for the same items. Tough times right now I'd say, but it can only improve from here :)

What games (e-sport) do you bet on? Just curious. Lost a good amount of cash on those games. I have a very bad habit of going all in after a lose-streak.

Where I've made money has been in CSGO. I've been betting a bit on dota2 and league but without much success. What did you bet on?

Started betting on CSGO when betting came alive, and back then you could only bet with the ingame currency. Switched over to BTC when sites started popping up offering that option :)

Nitogren is a bit better than fano, but fano's UI is like almost twice better. I don't like betting on sportsbook websites personally. :?
