Let's discuss something that maybe most of us can relate to.

Have you lost bitcoins before? How? Maybe you've sent bitcoins to a wrong address? got scammed?


Luckily I myself haven't lost bitcoins by those reasons. How about you people?

It's almost a right of passage in the bitcoin world. I've lost a few to mybitcoin.com, Mt. Gox, Bitcoinica, and BitFloor just off the top of my head. Fortunately the total loss was only about 10 BTC and at a time when they were worth a lot less than they are now.

I'm not really bitter, however. I opened every account with the above knowing full well that I was taking a bit of a risk and tried to mitigate it as much as possible while still participating in the exciting, wild, wild, west that is the cryptocurrency community.

None lost by malice or my own failings, but I have learned that there can always be a first time so I always check and recheck any sends....

The Irish police stole my encrypted electronic devices at the behest of the FBI, and my legitimately bought & earned (through trading) BTC was stored on them. My devices were stolen, but my bitcoins were not, so technically they are unrecoverable at this point in time.

Government agents thinking that a scrap of paper gives them the right to steal a person's belongings is disgusting. One person gives them a piece of paper which they call a warrant; this is backed up by the written words of another group of people (codified as 'laws'), and somehow they all equate the results of this process as a "seizure" of goods rather than outright theft.

That's gotta piss the FBI off, did they ask "nicely" for access to the coins and your private keys?
Do you know the address the coins are stored at?

On topic i lost about 0.01btc when my blockchain wallet was hacked, not a big loss so it was a good cheap lesson to learn.

Almost.
The online wallet provider got lagged and i assumed my single payment wasnt send.Ended up with multiple payments.
Got it back from the receiver.

Just formatted my drive to upgrade to Windows 10.

Backed up prior to doing this and my backup of Bitcoin includes a file named wallet.dat.

Can I recover this wallet or is it gone?

Yeah, but I've been into Bitcoin since 2011 so I just tell myself the 10 I lost were some of the ones I bought for less than $2 each. (Too bad I didn't buy more of those. )

I've actually been foolish enough to get a keylogger and lost some bitcoins on there.

Also did some paypal trades and lost fiat due to chargebacks (Thought I knew the person I sold to, guess I was wrong).

Yea. Usually people who doesn't do even a bit of research. Most common cases are people who goes like all in on investment sites thinking they're free money.

For at the moment is not recommended to join on cloud mining. there's many cloud mining site is scam.
it's a good options to buy hardware miner.
