The main problem of SegWit is that it delays a blocksize-limit increase for a lot longer than necessary. And seeing remarks from Core developers regarding the fee market makes me think that postponing an increase was exactly what they wanted. This dishonesty is what fuels my anger towards Core dev's: Pushing economic changes without broad consensus.

IMHO segwit will the the first step toward Bitcoin becoming somethings very different, overly complex and under delivering with every change made by ever more complex soft forks activate very few people (mining should be seen as one entity now I think it is pretty obvious).

although SegWit likely has long-term benefits, IMO it will probably do next to nothing in the short term with regards to cramped block space.
"I don't know why you don't collaborate with the Unlimited developers. You know this blocksize insanity is going to end one way or another; better it be accomplished through collaborative effort and some minimal compromise rather than shutting them (not to mention a decent percentage of regular users who don't want this 1MB-at-all-costs nonsense) out completely." - ChairmanOfBitcoin

It's overly complex. In addition to fixing transaction malleability (which is a useful bug fix) it changes the block structure (extra Merkle tree), it complicates fee calculation by adding two buckets for accounting purposes, and it has two (IMO gross) kluges so as to gain the ability to soft fork (anybody can pay, mucking with coinbase).
"One other problem is that roll-back, should it be necessary, would require a hard work that could put user funds at risk.

In addition, Segwit has been oversold. All its "benefits" werepresented to the community but not its disadvantages. (This is because of censorship.) " - tl121
