NAV mobile wallet is now live!

Dear NAV Community

We have created a mobile wallet for Nav Coin which uses our own custom version of electrum. This wallet is now live and ready for you to put some NAV in your back pocket and take a stroll down the waterfront, all without draining your battery.

Our NAV mobile wallet can hold Bitcoin, Litecoin and Nav Coin.

We chose the electrum server because it doesn’t download the entire block chain on your phone just the header (light block chain). This lightweight solution is what we are all about.

Also looks like we are world first again.  In launching this project we have created the world’s first mobile wallet for an X13 coin.
We’re super proud of our purple and blue currency!

Here’s some other cool info about our new mobile wallet:

It has improved battery and data usage because of its light chain (the data use is near zero.)
It is always on and ready to use, as there’s no need for the block chain to catch up.
The entire wallet takes up 6MB of space, which is 1% of what other wallets use.
It is ridiculously secure; all the keys are stored on and never leave your device and your wallet can be encrypted with a password to prevent malware and thieves stealing our coins.
You also won’t need to stress if you lose your device as the wallet also has an easy back up, and you can retrieve your coins with a simple twelve-word mnemonic.

Image
The other thing we really like about our new mobile wallet is it’s capacity for growth. Our open source code for the Android Wallet and the X13 Electrum Server will be available on github for anyone to fork or extend.

You can download NAV Coin android wallet here:

Thank you for your support!

Warmest regards,
The Nav Team

Website and Wallet update

Dear NAV Community

We have seen some users today experiencing a problem with their wallets syncing. We have released a new version of the wallet with a built in checkpoint to get your block chain past the problem area.

Please proceed to the downloads page of the website to get the latest version of the wallet (3.6.0) http://navcoin.org/downloads

We have also uploaded a zip of the blockchain to this page, so if you're syncing from the beginning you can use these files to get a head start.

The android wallet has also resumed service now that we've updated the electrum nodes with the latest version.

All of our nodes are now on the latest version version which can be found on our github https://github.com/navcoindev/navcoin2/tree/master

Please add these nodes to your navcoin.conf

addnode=185.61.148.209
addnode=95.183.51.15
addnode=95.183.50.58
addnode=95.183.50.54
addnode=95.183.53.184
addnode=95.183.53.12
addnode=95.183.52.165
addnode=5.230.142.254
addnode=5.230.146.212

We will postpone the payouts from the twitter competition until the network stabilises. We endeavour to make these payments as soon as possible, hopefully within the next day or two.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your support!

Warmest regards,
The Nav Team

NAV Coin Releases World’s First X13 Mobile Wallet

In late July the Nav Team announced that their electrum mobile wallet is live. This news came off the back of a successful coin swap giving Nav Coin a modern code base that is a platform for a huge range of new possible features. One such feature already released since the upgrade is the POS web wallet available at poswallet.com.

NAV is starting to get gain serious interest from investors, with a price increase following each new feature. The interest being driven by Nav Coin remaining on the cutting edge of crypto technology. They now have claim to releasing the world’s first mobile wallet for an X13 coin. Which is in fact their 2nd world first in the crypto world. Nav Coin was previously dubbed the world’s first fully anonymous cryptocurrency after releasing their Anonymous Transaction Network which runs using a private subchain.

Nav Coin Attains Dedicated Tor® Nodes

Nav Coin has announced its users now have access to dedicated Tor nodes. This added feature gives users the option to mask their IP address while connecting to the Nav Coin network, offering an extra layer of protection for its users who value the ability to make anonymous transactions.

The cryptocurrency has built an active community of users on bitcointalk.org, and one of these users, known on the forum as BitcoinFX, created the Tor service.

Development status update by Pakage:
Hi Nav Coiners

It’s Monday here in New Zealand, which means it’s time for the weekly update!

I’ve had a very busy week optimising the new anonymous scripts (I was up till 3am last night!!!). I have successfully completed all the improvements which I was hoping to get done before tidying up for deployment to the live environments.

I should have the clean up done by tonight or tomorrow, then over the next few days myself and Shahim will begin to roll the new system out to the anonymous network and begin our testing on the live environments. We aim to have our testing completed by the end of this week. If no major issues are encountered we hope to relaunch the Anon network to the public next week. We will of course keep you updated and aware of any changes to this schedule if delays are incurred by our testing results.

A lot of what has been optimised is in preparation for the impending decentralisation and as such, some of the improvements are quite technical, but actually pretty neat. I will be detailing what’s changed and how everything works in a new whitepaper which describes how the new anonymous network functions as well as the plan for implementing decentralisation. My goal is to have these ready for release around the same time as we re-launch the anon network. How much time i get to spend on this documentation over the next 10 days will be largely dependent on how smooth the live deployment and testing goes.

Everything is looking good though. I am confident in this system and I think it makes decentralisation not just a possibility but well within our grasp.

Mark and Sophia have been busy writing a few articles over the weekend. The first one we are releasing is an education piece about how our anonymous system works and largely comes off the back of what I have posted here about it recently. This should give the wider public some understanding of how cool our technology really is and also spread awareness about the upcoming relaunch of the anonymous network.

Soopy and Shahim have been busy finishing the thin client for desktop. They have successfully compiled a near finished version of the thin client which runs using the electrum server instead of having to download the whole blockchain. This will allow anyone who has trouble syncing the blockchain an option to forego the hassle and just use this wallet instead. We are planning to release this wallet later this week if no issues come up in our user testing. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement with the feature list and wallet download.

After being on the shelf for a while as we focused on more pressing projects, we are also in the process of finishing off the web wallet. This also runs off the electrum server but only requires your web browser to run. We have been pretty close to finishing this for some time with most of the work coming piggy backing on the electrum server / android wallet release. We will keep you posted in regards to release schedules for this also.

That’s about it for the update. We have a lot of content and releases planned for the next couple of weeks, so hold on to your hats and enjoy the ride!

Talk soon,
Craig.
